The Condition Crisis
When the Same Harm Repeats, the System Has Something to Learn
Too often, a child is treated as the problem when the deeper issue is a room, process, or system built for different conditions.
JenEd’s documented case work found recurring failures across core educational responsibilities, with many situations corrected only after a student experienced restraint, suspension, hospitalization, or another serious crisis.
The broader data reflects the same pattern. Students with disabilities represent approximately 13% of enrollment, yet account for as much as 80% of students who are physically restrained. At the same time, only a small fraction of students with disabilities ever reach a due-process hearing.
The Academy teaches participants to recognize these patterns earlier. Because when a system needs a crisis before it changes course, the harm is no longer unpredictable.

Built From Three Decades of Practice
Jennifer Dahlquist Ramirez is a veteran educator and special education systems strategist with thirty years of experience across public, private, and nonpublic educational settings. She is the founder of JenEd® Comprehensive Education Services, LLC and the author of General Education: The Condition Crisis in American Schooling.
Her work brings together classroom experience, family perspective, systems analysis, and multidisciplinary insight from school psychology, speech, occupational therapy, medicine, education, and district leadership.
The Academy is the next step in that work: a place where the method can be taught, practiced, questioned, and carried forward by more people.
The Book Behind the Work
The Condition Crisis in American Schooling
Jennifer Dahlquist Ramirez's forthcoming book examines a crisis that is often described as a student behavior or discipline problem. It makes a different argument: the crisis is a design problem.
When educational environments are built for conditions that no longer reflect the students inside them, predictable mismatches follow. The work is not simply to correct the child. It is to reconsider the room, the language, the expectations, and the system surrounding that child.
The JenEd® Academy turns that argument into a method participants can learn and use.
